As the United States struggle with the opioid epidemic and the devastating effects on lives,

economy and society, consider how massage therapy as a  non opioid solution to  help relieve that pain.

Prescription opioids carry serious risks of addiction, abuse, and overdose besides a whole list of side effects even if taken as directed.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, deaths from drugs like hydrocodone, oxycodone, and methadone has increased drastically since 1999.  For this reason many health care organizations and government agencies are looking for ways to manage pain, and agree with the benefits and the use of massage therapy to manage pain.

Adding to the above, your body will benefit from massage by improved circulation.  Poor circulation is linked with inflammation, Better blood flow can help with less tension and pain in the body that will lead to healing.  As the tissues are manipulated, the pressure created helps move blood through tight or constricted areas, then new blood can easily flow in.

Massage may not be suitable for everyone.  Those with acute or severe injuries, if you have a bleeding disorder, severe osteoporosis, or taking blood-thinning medication just to name a few conditions.  You should always consult with your personal physician to ensure massage would benefit for your condition.
